The Elantra was also redesigned last year, the style is superior from the inside out and each model offers great driving dynamics. 2018 Subaru Impreza Power & Handling

Subaru powers all 2018 Impreza models with a 2.0-liter flat-4 engine that delivers 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque! The 2.0i and Sport models match this engine to a five-speed manual transmission while the Premium and Limited models match it to a continuously variable automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters! The CVT is optional for the lower trims! Subaru give the Impreza a leg up in the compact car segment by equipping each model with standard all-wheel drive! When it comes to fuel economy this engine/manual transmission combination gets up to 32 mpg on the highway! With the automatic transmission, the Impreza gets up to 38 miles to the gallon on the highway!

2018 Hyundai Elantra Power & Handling

Hyundai places a 2.0-liter inline-4 engine underneath the hood of the SE, SEL, Limited and Value Edition models. This engine delivers 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. This engine can be matched to a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. With the manual transmission, the EPA estimates that this engine gets 36 mpg on the highway and with the automatic 38 mpg on the highway. Hyundai does offer two optional turbocharged engines for the 2018 Elantra but they come paired with a dual-clutch automatic transmission that doesn't offer drivers the smoothest-shifting characteristics.
