2018 Subaru Impreza vs 2018 Kia Forte near Philadelphia, PA

2018 only brings some minor changes to the Subaru Impreza and the Kia Forte. The Impreza receives automatic wipers across the board, the most current generations of technology, and plenty of cargo and passenger space. The Impreza is also the only car in its class to offer all-wheel drive. To try and be more competitive, the Forte has simply updated a few of its packages to offer extra features.

2018 Subaru Impreza Power & Handling

The Impreza comes with a strong 152 horsepower 2-liter flat-4 engine. This engine provides an EPA estimated fuel economy of 28 miles per gallon in the city and 38 miles per gallon on the highway. The Impreza comes standard in all-wheel drive with the choice of either a five-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic transmission with a seven-speed manual shift option. The headlights are also steering responsive to help you see more clearly at night.

2018 Kia Forte Power & Handling

The Forte comes with two engine options. The first engine, a 147 horsepower 2-liter 4-cylinder, is standard on all models. The second engine is only available on the top trim. The EPA gives this engine an estimated fuel economy of 25 miles per gallon in the city and 34 miles per gallon on the highway. With the Forte, you have the choice of a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.

2018 Subaru Impreza Features & Design

The Impreza's four trim options come fully loaded. The base trim, the base 2.0i, comes with multiple driving aids and safety features, a folding rear seat, smartphone integration, and so much more. Packages are available to each trim for even more driving aids, a sunroof, and upgraded speakers. On top of this, you can also find features within the trims that include luxury items like leather upholstery, heated front seats, active torque vectoring, a rear spoiler, and so much more.

2018 Kia Forte Features & Design

The base features of the Forte can be pretty lacking with features like Bluetooth, a folding rear seat, and a USB port. Driving aids and safety features have to be added by the addition of a Popular package. The other three trim options are also pretty basic on what they offer with the need for packages to add more fun. The safety features and driving aids only start becoming standard once you reach the top level trim. Even then you are only receiving blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert though.

As the Forte lacks in fuel economy, all-wheel drive capability, and safety features, the Impreza stands far above its competition.
