2018 Subaru Legacy vs 2018 Toyota Camry near Philadelphia, PA

If you are thinking about buying a new sedan in 2018, you probably have both the Subaru Legacy and the Toyota Camry on your list. The Legacy has been newly tuned for 2018 to provide a smoother and quieter ride, while the Camry has simply upgraded its look with a bit of sleeker styling this year. Read on to learn all the key differences of these sedans!

2018 Subaru Legacy Power & Handling

The Legacy offers two engine options, the 2.5-liter flat-4, and the 3.6-liter flat-6. A continuously variable automatic transmission is standard with both engines and has steering-wheel-mounted paddles for easy shifting between the six preset gears. Even though this engine has a special "boxer" configuration, with the Legacy's unique shift algorithm, this transmission feels just like a regular automatic.

2018 Toyota Camry Power & Handling

The Camry also offers two engine choices, the 2.5-liter inline-4, and the 3.5-liter V6. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The only available option for both engines is front-wheel drive. The L trim is the only trim that gets a high fuel economy as well.

2018 Subaru Legacy Features & Design

Both the Camry and the Legacy have five trim levels to choose from, but the Legacy starts off at a much higher level than the Camry. The Legacy takes charge with a strong base level and keeps going as each level adds more than the last. Each trim even offers unique features to make it a little more personalized to safety, driving, or just overall luxury.

2018 Toyota Camry Features & Design

The Camry's base trim is just that, a base. The next two trim levels add a few more features with the LE being very basic with an added car alarm and the SE being slightly more focused on driving features, but then the top two trims are simply repeats of the LE and SE, with a few more additional features.

Conclusions

If you're looking for the sedan that is at the top of its class with all the most luxurious features, go with the Legacy. The Camry has made great strides in recent years, but simply can't hold a candle to the Legacy in comfort and style for the everyday driver.
