The standard all-wheel-drive system is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. The Ascent makes an impressive 27 miles per gallon while cruising on the highway so you can spend less time at the gas station. 2019 Ford Explorer  Power & Handling

Ford offers the 2019 Explorer with three different options. The lower level trims come standard with 3.5-liter V6 engine making 290 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque. Optional for the base, XLT, and Limited models is a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine making 280 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The Sport and Platinum trims come standard with a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine making 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. While the first two engines come standard with front-wheel-drive the twin-turbocharged engine comes standard with all-wheel-drive. All engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Subaru offers the eight-passenger 2019 Ascent in Base, Premium, Limited, and Touring trim levels. The Ascent is also as a seven-passenger SUV with available with second-row captain's chairs. The Base model comes equipped with 60/40-split folding second- and third-row seats, 86.5 cubic feet of cargo space, a 6.5-inch touchscreen display, four USB ports, six-speaker sound system, roof rails, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning. The Premium model adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, heated side mirrors, windshield wiper de-icer, spill-resistant cloth upholstery, an 8-inch touchscreen, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. The Limited trim comes with a power liftgate, a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, heated second-row seats, and rear door sunshades. The top tier Touring model includes navigation, cargo cover, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, a front-view camera display, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and eight USB ports.

The 2019 Ford Explorer comes in five different trim levels the: Base, XLT, Limited, Sport, and Platinum. The Base trim comes with a backup camera. a 4.2-inch display, and a USB port. The XLT trim features a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power-adjustable front passenger seat, and satellite radio. Next up is the Limited model with an 8-inch touchscreen, extra USB ports, and heated and ventilated front seats. The Sport model comes with firmer suspension tuning and a towing package. Conclusions

While both SUV's would make an excellent choice we are going to have to give it to the 2019 Subaru Ascent with standard all-wheel-drive, seating for eight, and impressive fuel economy. The spill-resistant cloth upholstery, ample leg room, power liftgate, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot makes the Ascent ready to handle whatever your family has to throw at it while keeping everyone occupied. While the kids are busy in the back seats you can relax in your heated seat with a heated steering wheel.
