2020 Subaru Forester vs 2020 Chevrolet Equinox near Philadelphia, PA

Buying a new SUV can be a complicated, time-consuming, and stressful process. There are so many options out there in the automotive world, and picking out the right one might seem like an impossible task. We are here to show off two of the top SUVs, and explain what they both offer so you can make a sound decision without all the hassle. The first SUV we're checking out is the 2020 Subaru Forester. This model enters the 2020 year with all-wheel drive, a full complement of driver-assist features, generous cargo capacity, and enhanced off-roading capabilities. The other option is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox. This model drops its diesel engine, but still includes a smooth ride, precise handling, and a powerful standard engine. Which SUV should you buy? Keep reading below to find out.

2020 Subaru Forester Power & Handling

One standard engine is in charge of powering the 2020 Forester. This engine is a 2.5-liter flat-4, which can knock out around 176 pound-feet of torque and 182 horsepower. Paired up with this engine is a CVT, which helps to drive the power to all four wheels. For a few of the trims, this CVT even includes a manual mode, which simulates a seven-speed automatic transmission. As for fuel economy, you'll be getting around 26 miles per gallon city, and 33 miles per gallon on the highway. These are great numbers being offered by Subaru, and thanks to all-wheel drive, you can most definitely rely on this powertrain no matter the weather.

2020 Chevrolet Equinox Power & Handling

The 2020 Equinox is available with two engines. The base engine is a weak 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, which can produce 203 pound-feet of torque and 170 horsepower. The other available engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, which can create around 260 pound-feet of torque and 252 horsepower. The base engine gets a six-speed automatic transmission, while the optional engine works with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is an option. The lack of standard AWD doesn't help the Equinox's case against the Forester.

2020 Subaru Forester Features & Design

When it comes to model options, Subaru gives you five different trims to choose from. The base model, known as Base, comes with Subaru's Starlink app suite, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, all-season tires, a rearview camera, 17-inch steel wheels, and push-button start. Another available model, Premium, includes raised roof rails, hill descent control, a panoramic sunroof, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The highest available trim is Touring. This option gets you a driver distraction monitoring system, a power-adjustable passenger seat, premium leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and heated rear seats. This gives you a great brief taste as to what you can expect to find with your 2020 Forester.

2020 Chevrolet Equinox Features & Design

Only four trim levels are offered with the Equinox. The base model, L, is sparsely equipped with height-adjustable front seats, LED daytime running lights, a 6-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and keyless entry and ignition. Another trim, LT, adds in a power-adjustable driver's seat, xenon headlights, satellite radio, an upgraded information display, and auxiliary rear-seat release levers. The highest available model is Premier, which includes driver-seat memory functions, LED headlights, LED taillights, wireless device charging, and a hands-free liftgate.

Conclusions

As you can so easily tell, the 2020 Subaru Forester is the vastly superior SUV.
