2020 Subaru Forester vs 2020 Toyota  RAV4 near Philadelphia, PA

As SUVs continue to become more and more popular, the car world is flooded with a ton of options in the genre. With all of these available options, it's becoming more and more challenging to make a choice on which one is the best. Fortunately, that's where we come in! In this article, we will be comparing two of the best SUVs on the market, the 2020 Subaru Forester and the 2020 Toyota RAV4, to help you decide on which one is best for you!

2020 Subaru Forester Power & Handling

All Subaru Foresters come with a "boxer" engine, which is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. The engine is called the "boxer" because, unlike most four-cylinders, it has two opposing cylinders instead of four in a row. The power of the engine is sent to all four wheels, making the Forester one of the only four-wheel-drive vehicles in its class. The 2020 Forester also includes an Intelligent driving mode for a smoother ride or a Sport mode for sharp responses. Additionally, the Forester is incredibly fuel-efficient as the EPA estimates the consumption at 29 mpg combined.

2020 Toyota  RAV4 Power & Handling

The 2020 Toyota RAV4 also sees a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that sends power to the front wheels. The RAV4 comes with an eight-speed shiftable automatic transmission, which is incredibly smooth, though admittedly not a smooth as the Forester's continuously variable automatic. The engine uses a stop/start system to improve fuel economy, but the fuel tank is only 14.5 gallons, so you might have to spend more time at the pump depending on how much you drive. We also wish the RAV4 came with all-wheel-drive so it would be better in bad weather.

2020 Subaru Forester Features & Design

Four trim levels are available for the 2020 Forester, with each being nicely equipped. The base has some of the best features we've seen in an SUV as it comes with a rearview camera, push-button start, and 17-inch steel wheels with all-season tires. Also included is Subaru's Starlink system as well as the EyeSight driver assistance system. Both come with a ton of advanced driver safety aids. The base provides you with some outstanding tech features such as a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. Higher trims add a ten-way power-adjustable driver's seat, 17-inch alloy wheels, hill-descent control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Wi-fi, and heated front seats. The top-level Forester is the Touring, and it comes with a heated steering wheel, navigation, reverse automatic braking, driver-attention monitoring, and memory setting for the driver's seat.

2020 Toyota  RAV4 Features & Design

The 2020 RAV4 comes with some excellent features, particularly in the safety department. These include eight airbags plus Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, which includes adaptive cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian and daytime cyclist control, and lane-departure warning. All RAV4's also come with an Entune 3.0 system that has a 7-inch touchscreen as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard on the LE are cloth seats, power windows, and locks, a rearview camera, 17-inch steel wheels, LED headlights and taillights, and automatic high beams. Higher trim includes heated side mirrors, dual-zone climate control, and heated and cooled front seats.

Though it is a tough call, we are going to give the victory to the 2020 Subaru Forester. We are in love with the standard four-wheel-drive, the large fuel tank, and the bevy of features at the base level. We recommend reading our full review of this fantastic vehicle and then heading down to the dealership to take a test drive.
