What's new in 2019?

The Subaru Forester continues to awe with its debut of the all-new fifth generation, 2019 model! The debut occurred at the New York International Auto Show at the end of March this year. Not only does this SUV have an entirely new and fully capable engine, it is also introducing some brand-new safety technology. You will be able to find this vehicle in trim levels like the standard, Premium, Limited, Touring, and new this model year, Sport.

Have you heard about the all-new trim level, Sport?

While the Forester has overall added more cargo capacity, increased the available features, and made many of the safety features standard, the most exciting update is the brand-new Sport trim! This trim will come with exclusive Subaru Intelligent Drive, a sport grille with black gloss finish frame, black finish 18 inch wheels, a unique dark gray interior with orange stitching and accents, LED lights, a PIN code access, a wiper de-icer, heated front seats, keyless access, heated exterior mirrors, integrated turn signals on the exterior mirrors, and a multi-function display. To help with any outdoor loading and unloading, the Sport trim will also have a rear gate LED floor light, an auto-off cargo area LED light, and a cargo area tray for interior protection.

Looking for a spacious interior or a quiet ride?

The 2019 Forester has you covered. With the Subaru Global Platform, you can say goodbye to vibrations, road harshness, and wind noise. Certain frequencies can now be a thing of the past with the Forester's ability to tune these out and let you only hear what you want. For increased console space, a new Electronic Parking Brake has been put in place. In addition to the additional room provided by a larger vehicle, the Forester has also added extra comfort with heated seats, a new front seat construction, and added organizational features to make finding your items even easier.

What powers the 2019 Forester?

An entirely new version of the Subaru Boxer engine is available. This 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine can now be found with higher compressions, an active valve control system, and direct fuel injection. This engine boosts its production from the previous 170 horsepower to 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. The estimated fuel economy for this engine with its lineartronic CVT is 33 miles per gallon on the highway. With the Sport and Touring trims, you can also gain the ability of a seven-speed manual transmission through the use of paddle shift control switches. For increased handling, the Forester is also accessible with all-wheel drive for a car-like ride with SUV capabilities. Active Torque Vectoring, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and 18-inch steel wheels make for excellent driving capability in handling driving conditions as difficult as mud or snow.

What are some of the safety features?

Standard on the 2019 Forester are many features for safety and security, including lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure and sway warning, trailer stability assist, pre-collision throttle management, lead vehicle start alert, and a power locking fuel door included with the automatic power door lock/unlock system. You can also find features like lane change assist, reverse automatic braking, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot detection, high beam assist, a tire pressure monitoring system, and steering responsive headlights. On top of all this, the Forester also comes with the Subaru Starlink and all of its wonderful in-vehicle technology, that is both fun and safety focused.
