
When the Subaru Outback first went on sale, it provided
consumers with a practical alternative to sedans and SUVs. As the years went
by, the Outback added more cargo space and ground clearance than its
competitors as well as added an off-road capability, sportiness, and more
compact size to help it compete with other 3-row SUVs. In 2020, the Subaru
Outback may look like the models that came before it, but underneath the
exterior is an all-new model with a new platform, new structure, and an
upgraded engine and technological features. The 2020 Subaru Outback comes in
six trims with a ton of features and options, take a trip with us as we break
down each one.
Base
The Base, like most Outback's, comes with a 2.5-liter
four-cylinder engine with 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. This engine
pairs with all-wheel-drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission.
As for features, the Base comes with LED headlights, keyless entry, a rearview
camera, and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and
Android Auto connectivity, Bluetooth audio connectivity. There are also a ton
of safety features including adaptive cruise control, front collision warning
with automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist.
Premium
Going up a level to the Premium trim gets you dual-zone
automatic climate control, a power-adjustable drivers' seat, heated front
seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a larger 11.6-inch touchscreen.
The Premium also provides you terrific options such as a power liftgate,
navigation, and safety options like blind-spot monitoring with rear
cross-traffic alert.
Limited
The Limited gets you blind-spot monitoring and a power
liftgate as standard features and adds leather upholstery, driver-seat memory
functions, rear air vents, reverse automatic braking, and a Harman Kardon audio
system. Optional for the Limited is a heated steering wheel, navigation, and
Subaru's DriverFocus driver monitoring system.
Touring
On top of all the options on the Limited, the Touring adds more
interior upgrades such as ventilated front seats, upgraded leather upholstery
with contrasting stitching and a sunroof.
Onyx Edition XT
The Onyx Edition XT provides you with all the standard
equipment of the previous trims while adding a turbocharged 2.4-liter
four-cylinder engine with 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. This new
engine comes with the same all-wheel-drive and continuously variable automatic
transmission as the 2.5-liter. Also included with the Onyx are an upgraded
version of Subaru's all-wheel-drive traction management system, hill descent
control, a front-view monitor, heated rear seats, and upgraded exterior
cladding.
Limited XT and Touring XT
The Limited XT and the Touring XT come with the same
features as the Limited and the Touring and also comes with the new
turbocharged engine.
With a ton of features and options to go with two
