2015 Ford Focus Power & Handling

The 2015 Ford Focus ST has a 2.0-liter turbocharged Ecoboost engine is under the hood, using twin independent variable camshaft timing and high-pressure direct injection for 252 hp at 5,500 rpm, and 270 lb-ft of torque which arrives at 2,500 rpm. The inline four is paired exclusively with a six speed manual transmission. A Traction Control feature also supports the driver's control over the handling of the vehicle when on difficult roads. Overall control is also improved thanks to an Electronic Stability Control system. For day-to-day driving, the Focus ST is still quite livable. The suspension tuning is certainly firm, but it's also fairly quiet, as the engine really makes itself heard only during hard acceleration.

2015 Subaru WRX Power & Handling

The 2015 Subaru WRX features a stiffer chassis, a retuned suspension and a major power increase. The WRX is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter, horizontally opposed four-cylinder boxer engine that produces 268 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel-drive system are standard. A new CVT is optional and features steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters and settings that mimic either a six- or eight-speed automatic.A Traction Control system uses sensors which can sense when any wheel suffers a loss of traction, and changes the level of the vehicle's power and handling to help the driver with regaining and maintaining control. The WRX's control is further increased due to an Electronic Stability system. Thanks to a firmer chassis, a retuned suspension and the new torque-vectoring feature for the all-wheel-drive system, the new WRX is a noticeably tighter and more precise-handling car than before.

2015 Ford Focus Features & Design

The 2015 Ford Focus ST sees minor changes which includes things like a new front and rear fascia, new wheel designs, standard HID headlights and Recaro seats on the ST2 and ST3, new colors, LED lighting, stripes, and a freshened interior. The mostly cosmetic updates also add recalibrated electric steering, new shocks and springs, and, well, that's about it. As far as options go, Ford will offer HID headlights with the ST2 and ST3 trim levels, which are coupled with Recaro seats, as well as new, optional 18-inch wheels with red painted brake calipers. 2015 Subaru WRX Features & Design

Make it big, and make it boxy; that's the ethos of the new 2015 Subaru WRX's styling, at least at the front end where the air intakes have never looked quite so massive, or the fenders quite so pronounced. Key details include the more deeply set (and functional) hood scoop, LED low-beam headlights on upgraded models, and new 17-inch wheels, standard. As far as options are concerned, you can add a moonroof, rear spoiler, heated front seats, 8 way power drivers seat, and a 9 speaker Harman/Kardon premium audio system. Every Subaru WRX comes standard with stability and traction control, antilock disc brakes, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, a driver-side knee airbag and active front head restraints.

Conclusions

As you can see, these two cars on the road are not really comparable. Don't get us wrong. The 2015 Focus ST is a fun car, but the 2015 Subaru WRX just runs away from it. The WRX is faster and much more confidence inspiring. At the end of the day, the WRX comes across as not only an easier car to drive quickly, but also a more superior all around car. Come take a test drive of the WRX today at Reedman Toll Subaru.
