2018 Subaru Legacy at Reedman-Toll Subaru for Langhorne, PA

Let me introduce you to Subaru's new 2018 Legacy. Just unveiled in February 2017, the new Legacy maintains its solid reputation as one of the most reliable and safe all-wheel-drive Sedans. This year's model has some new exterior improvements, a more luxurious interior, updated technology and better noise reduction in the cabin. One of the more notable design improvements is the available Steering Responsive Headlight system. The headlights adapt in the direction of the car's turn which helps the driver see more clearly around corners. Add this to the Legacy's existing list of safety features, and you are left with a very solid sedan. If the new 2018 Legacy sounds intriguing, then continue reading to learn more about this vehicle.

Under the Legacy's Hood

All Legacy models have an active all-wheel drive system and are paired with either the 2.5-liter four-cylinder BOXER engine or the 3.6-liter 6-cylinder BOXER engine, depending on the model. The first engine produces 175 horsepower and 174 pound-ft of torque and the second produces 256 horsepower and 247 pound-ft of torque. Paired with either of these engines is a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). This technology delivers an unending and continuous variability in drive ratios making shifting imperceptible. The 2018 Legacy's computer has been fine-tuned to help the CVT, engine and drivetrain provide quicker and smoother acceleration. The 2018 Legacy also has a more refined suspension with dampers to help reduce body movement and roll. Furthermore, the Legacy has unique fuel saving features such as a shutter system on the grille which limits wind resistance.

Design of Subaru Legacy

Subtle exterior changes make the 2018 Legacy appear more sleek and sporty. The front grille has wider slots and the car's stance is more planted.  The rear bumper and tailpipes are integrated and the wheels have a new design. LED headlights are now improved to run during the day, and the chassis has been fine-tuned for a more comfortable ride. Enhancements to reduce cabin noise include a shorter chain on the CVT for less powertrain noise, improved exterior mirror design, insulated front window glass, and thicker splash aprons on the rear wheels. The interior changes for the new Legacy are subtle and give the interior a more luxurious feel.  The materials are upgraded and the upper trim levels have door, dash and seat details, such as stitching and silver colored bezel accents. The steering wheel has been re-designed to feel sportier. In regards to technology, many updates abound. First of all, the Starlink multimedia system interfaces with smartphones and now allows the use of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The touchscreen has increased to 6.5" and the available 8" touchscreen has a faster processor. The voice recognition technology has also been fine-tuned.
